Teak is a very durable type of hardwood from southeastern Asia. Their leaves have the same effect as catappa leaves but without the brown discolouration of the water. They slightly lower the pH, an excellent food source for shrimp and contain disease inhibitors and tannins that are slowly released into the water. It also takes a long time for teak leaves to decay in the water.
